See what fills your disk, then clean it up.

Strata maps every file on a drive as a block sized by its bytes. Spot the 48 GB recording you forgot about, review cleanup suggestions with reasons, and send them to the Recycle Bin. A modern take on WinDirStat.

Strata's explorer: a treemap of a drive, the folder tree, file types and the selected file's details
Features

From a full drive to free space in four steps.

Scan

  • Fast scan reads the NTFS master file table directly, typically 10–20× faster than walking folders.
  • Multi-threaded walk everywhere else: ext4, Btrfs, XFS, ZFS, exFAT, network shares.
  • Live progress with pause, resume and partial results.

Map

  • Cushion-shaded treemap, sunburst and columns views of the same data.
  • Folder tree sorted by size, kept in sync with the map.
  • A file-type legend that lights up a type on the map.

Find

  • Search by name, glob, size and type.
  • Smart views: largest files, duplicates verified by content, untouched for a year, caches, dev artifacts.

Clean up

  • Suggestions with reasons, each marked Safe or Review.
  • Recycle Bin (or Trash) by default, system folders refused.
  • A 7-day History restores what you removed.

Safety

It deletes files, so it's careful.

  • Nothing goes without a confirmation listing every item and the space it frees.
  • Recycle Bin by default. Permanent deletion is an explicit opt-in.
  • System locations are refused: drive roots, Windows, Program Files, /usr, /etc, your home folder.
  • Caches are emptied, not removed. Files in use are skipped and reported.
  • History keeps 7 days and restores items to where they were.
